It’s off to Bryce Canyon National Park. I’m hoping that it hasn’t snowed too much
there. The drives are scary enough on
dry roads – I drank my Tazo “calm” tea this morning – let’s hope it works.
The weather held out that we were able to visit the park
although some of the roads were closed.
They had predicted 10 – 20 inches in some of the higher elevations. The 4 overlooks on the scenic drive were
opened and so worth the trip. We did a
little hiking to get to some of the points which was interesting with the snow
and dressed in sneakers. Next time I’ll
bring hiking boots and it might help if I up the elevation on the treadmill at
Planet Fitness. The elevation was 8800
feet, the temperature 24, and the winds a bit gusty but I understand why Dad
said that this was his favorite. The
hoodoos were amazing – I’ll let you google that one. I was also thinking of our Moms and Pete as
so many of our hikes have not been hip or knee friendly. Instead of trying to describe Bryce I’ll let
the pictures so the talking although it is hard to do justice to any of these
natural wonders.
Next we headed toward the Grand Canyon. Kudos to Ron for driving all these miles
through some really difficult conditions.
Sorry Chris I think I left some dents in the door handle by hanging on
during our snowy drive around the Canyon Rim.
We found a hotel close to the South Rim and will take off for the park in
the morning weather permitting.
A view when we were driving |
Get ready Chris we’re getting close.
